San Francisco Giants @ San Diego Padres

Giants @ Padres

In one of his final appearances for the Padres, Brian Meadows pitched a pretty decent ballgame. Unfortunately, Mark Gardner for the Giants was even better, shutting out the Padres for 7 innings while striking out eight. The Giants win 3-0 behind RBIs from Ellis Burks, J.T. Snow, and Doug Mirabelli. Joy got so cold at this game, that I had to buy her a Padres sweater. Now she's the ultimate fan.

Air-Band Championships

Air Bands

Joy was lucky enough to be in an air-band group that made it to the San Diego finals. Their performance was called RAID! It featured dancers that pretended to be bed bugs that eventually had to be extinguished in order to bring peace to the bedroom: and it was all set to song and dance! This is still to date my only appearance at the Rimac Arena on the campus of University of California San Diego.
And here is the performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fVYPs2Iqrw

1999-2000 WCHL Playoffs

Gulls playoffs

So I have no idea who won this game. I don't even know who the Gulls played. This ticket is fading pretty bad, just like that picture in Back to the Future. Maybe if it fades all the way, the game will have never existed.

Marquis Theatre, New York City
Annie Get Your Gun

Annie Get Your Gun

The final score of this game was... just kidding. I was in New York City with my high school choir. In between our festival obligations, we had time to catch a matinee showing of Annie Get Your Gun. It was a great show. The music was fun, the show was filled with humor, and supporting actors in the chorus were well utilized. Bernadette Peters starred as Annie Oakley, and Tom Wopat (of "The Dukes of Hazzard" fame) was the leading male, Frank Butler. After the show, they had an on-stage auction conducted by Peters and Wopat. When it came time to sell a broach on Peters' costume, her selling point was, "It's been on my right breast all afternoon." Then Wopat grabbed it, placed it on her left breast and said, "There, now it's been on both!" Good stuff!

San Diego CIF Girl's Basketball Championships
Mt. Carmel High vs. El Camino High

Mt. Carmel girls win it all

The Mt. Carmel High School girl's basketball team had a great season my senior year. They won this championship in thrilling overtime fashion. They played the defending Division I champions, El Camino High School. I remember every girl on that team had her hair in cornrows, which looked pretty cool. It was almost like it was a part of their uniform. The final score was 55-54. This was also my first game watched at the beautiful Cox Arena on the campus of San Diego State University. I yelled so loudly at this game that my voice was shot for the next couple days.

Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers

Broncos @ Chargers

Hey I love that ticket guarantee! The "CITY" you see on the ticket means this was one of the tickets the city of San Diego bought in order to make the game a sellout, thus ensuring this game would be on TV locally. Unfortunately, the 33-17 final score that favored the Broncos was not very ratings friendly. I went with Joy to this game, and we ended up leaving early in order to not be late for an appointing.
