Emil Brown homered and had 2 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the San
Diego Padres by a score of 6 to 2 at Petco Park.

St. Louis scored 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when they had 4 base
hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. St. Louis had 11 hits for
the game and San Diego had 7.

Pedro Astacio(1-0) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Joe
Nathan got the save, his 1st. The loss was charged to Kevin Correia(4-4).
