The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Diego Padres by a score of 7 to 3 at
Petco Park.

Pittsburgh took the lead for good in the 2nd inning when they scored 2 runs on
1 hit. The crucial at-bat was provided by Hee Seop Choi who deflated the
mood of the partisan fans when he lifted one out of the park for a two run
home run (his 1st of the season). Pittsburgh and San Diego each finished the
night with 7 hits.

Jeff Francis(1-0) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Salomon
Torres recorded his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Kevin Correia(4-3). He
allowed 3 homeruns in 3 and 1/3 innings of work.
